Seth Pierre Remington from Canton, New York. He was a major in the Scotts 900 Cavalry and he was the father of the famous painter Frederic Remington. His wife was Clara Sackrider. Before the Civil War, Seth Remington was part owner of the "Plaindealer" - a newspaper which you have quoted from on the Scotts 900 page. His parterner at the newspaper was William Bingham Goodrich who became a Col. of the NY 60th infantry and was killed at the battle of Antietam.
