98th Regiment, New York National Guard

The following is taken from New York in the War of the Rebellion, 3rd ed. Frederick Phisterer. Albany: J. B. Lyon Company, 1912.

This regiment, not now in existence, but at the time located in Erie county, was mustered in the United States service for a period of 100 days, August 10, 1864; commanded by Gol. George Abbott, it (seven companies) served at the depot, Elmira, and was mustered out of the United States service December 22, 1864, at Buffalo, N. Y.

It lost in this service by death, of disease, etc., three enlisted men.
