Campbell, Fort

Description: Fort Campbell was built in Ostego County, near Cherry Valley, New York, in 1777. The fort’s defenses were eventually upgraded, which led to Fort Campbell being rebranded as Fort Alden in 1778. Fort Alden would be destroyed following a British assault on the fortress in 1780. Notes: - Breastworks of logs and earth surrounded the house of Major Samuel Campbell; These were replaced by stronger works as part of Fort Alden in 1778.
