Description: Fort Brewerton was constructed in 1759 in Oswego County, New York, considered by some as the “prehistoric capital” of New York State. It was built by the British for the purpose of defending the path between Oswego and Albany. The fort took the shape of an eight-sided star and was surrounded by a moat with a depth of ten feet. Presently, the site where the fort once stood hosts the Oliver Stevens Blockhouse Museum. Notes: - The site on which the fort once stood is located on US Route 11.
